Nathan “Nate” Hovland, 83, of Laguna Woods, California, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, at his home.

Nate was born and raised in Austin, Minnesota. He attended Austin High School, where he met his wife, Virginia Shutt. He went on to Mankato State for college. Nate enjoyed his career as a teacher and counselor for the Tustin Unified School District for over 35 years. When he retired, he was so lucky to be able to play his favorite sports, tennis and golf.
Nate is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia; his daughter, Anne Huber and her husband, Terry; his son, David Hovland; and his two grandsons, Sam and James, who were one of the greatest joys in his life.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Clubhouse Two, 24112 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.
