Money, items taken from car – Police chief: Please lock your vehicles
An undisclosed amount of money and several items were taken from a vehicle in the 1000 block of First Avenue Northeast Thursday morning.
According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to the call at 8:06 a.m. The victim said he noticed his driver door ajar, although he thought he had locked the vehicle.
Along with the money, the victim said two Makita cordless drills, a Makita cordless saw and a Makita cordless jigsaw were taken, as was a Caltech 9 mm handgun with a magazine. The items are valued at about $1,000.
Another report stated that kids were seen prowling around cars in the southwest section of town. The police are urging citizens to lock or secure their vehicles.
“Unfortunately, an unlocked vehicle for some is an open invitation for them to explore,” Kruger said. “So please lock your vehicles on the city streets and anytime they’re in the driveway.”
