A. D. Sturm, 89, went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 9, 2017.
He grew up on a farm near Fairmont, Minnesota. Feeling a call on his life, he entered into the ministry. He went to school at North Central Bible College. There he met the love of his life, Geraldine. Together they traveled all over, evangelizing until taking a pastoral duty in Austin, Minnesota. Later he moved his family to Oklahoma, there they had a gift and floral business with shops in Oklahoma and Texas. But he never lost his love for sharing the Gospel. In God’s miraculous way, they met Dale and Rita Lidstrom. Dale, having experience in Christian radio broadcasting, helped A.D. launch Lifetime Ministries’ 10-minute Christian commentaries, broadcast via short-wave and later internet radio. Feeling led to return to their home in Minnesota, they came back and opened the I Love Nature store in Oak Park Mall. They also ministered at local campgrounds every Sunday for many years. He continued his ministry as long as he was able, mailing out Christian literature abroad and sharing his testimony of all the miracles God performed in his life to whoever would lend an ear.
Now he is with his heavenly father, his dearest and truest friend, may you rest in His loving arms. Our loss is great, but you will remain in our hearts forever.
A.D. is survived by four children: Larry Sturm, Norman, Oklahoma, Dwight Sturm, Austin, Rhonda and Gordon Mondt, Austin, and Craig Sturm, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Matthew Sturm, Austin, Eric (Linda) Runnels, Bend, Oregon, and Robyn (Justin) Dobbs, Edmond, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren: Madison, Gavin, Leah and Landon Arlo.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine; his parents, John and Beatrice; and his two sisters, Mava Ruth and Ardyce.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Dale Lidstrom officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Lifetime Ministries, Box 254, Austin, MN 55912.
