An annual Paint the Town Pink event smashed its way to a record crowd on Sunday.

Smashing Cancer, a winter demolition derby, found warm weather in the upper 30s and a crowd of 700 people and 66 cars from Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin on Sunday when it returned to raise money for Paint the Town Pink.

The derby was managed by Masters of Disaster, and the Mower County Fair Board put on the event with major sponsors, such as: SKB Environmental, Dan Morem Damel Corp. and several other sponsors.

The event capped a big weekend for PTTP, which also featured the annual Paint the Rink Pink game on Friday and Fishing for a Cure on Saturday.

Rose Creek’s Paint the Town Pink returns Saturday, Feb. 18. Also at 5 p.m. that Saturday, Adams will host “Pinko Bingo” at The Eagles in Austin.
