SEMAC awards arts grants

On Nov, 15 the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) awarded 40 grants for totaling $279,680 in funding to applicants throughout southeastern Minnesota.

This included eight Presenter/Production Assistance grants for $24,000, six Small Towns/Rural Areas grants for $15,900, and 26 Arts and  Cultural Heritage grants for $239,780.

Five Austin organizations received $29,000 in total grant money. Those receiving funds included the Austin Area Commission for the Arts, Austin Community Band, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Matchbox Children’s Theatre and Summerset Community Theatre.

List of Austin organizations that received money from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council

•Austin Area Commission for the Arts received a $10,000 Arts and Cultural Heritage grant for Kids Visual Arts Education 2017.

•Austin Community Band received a $3,000 Presenter/Production Assistance grant for Summer Concerts in the Park.

•Austin Symphony Orchestra received a $3,000 Presenter/Production Assistance grant for Homecoming Orchestral Reunion.

•Matchbox Children’s Theatre received a $3,000 Presenter/Production Assistance grant for MCT Presents “Charlotte’s Web.”

•Summerset Community Theatre received a $10,000 Arts & Cultural Heritage grant for 50th Anniversary Summerset Season.
