Y’s Women’s Club

Y’s women met Oct. 13 at the Hormel Historic Home. Sheriff Terese Amazi was the program speaker. She told of the concerns of law enforcement and delighted us with some humorous and interesting stories she has encountered with her work.

The business meeting was conducted by Anita Uwelling, the secretary report by Donna Maas. The Y’s Women will sponsor a luncheon and card party Nov. 17 at the HHH.

Hostesses were Louise Anderson and Jane Helfrick.

The next meeting will be  at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 10. Randy Klein, area director of Our House Senior Living will be the guest speaker. Members will bring items for the Salvation Army food shelf.

Duplicate Bridge

Tuesday, Oct. 11 six tables played at the Mower County Senior Center. First place, Barb Engebretson and Orrin Roisen; second place, Barb Rofshus and Lorraine Quinlivan; third place, Lorraine Lippert and Russ Valle; fourth place, Carolyn Higgins and Cleo Osmundson; fifth place, Judy Bungum and Dave Solomonson

Wednesday, Oct. 12, five tables played. First place, Joyce Crowe and Millie Siever; second place, Dave Ring and Orrin Roisen; third place, Tom Flarety and Stan Schultz; fourth place, Vandy Newman and Ron Peters; fifth place, John Lieben and Rick Stroup.

Players were from Austin, Albert Lea, Adams and Rose Creek. All bridge players are encouraged to join us at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Wednesdays.
