The power of conversation. I’m amazed at what can grow from a simple conversation in passing. Especially when it’s a conversation focused on growing more good!

That’s how Harvest Fest … explore living Mower healthy! began. Ideas shared in passing that led to more conversation over a cup of coffee at Coffeehouse on Main (a Refreshed Dining location!). The collaborations and conversations grew to include an amazing team of community folks who are making it happen on Saturday, September 17th downtown Austin, by the Municipal Pool area!

The early partnership of the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Downtown Association committee, led by Marie Fry (Belles & Beaus) and Mower Refreshed has evolved into a high energy event that focuses on healthy living in the Austin area. Over sixty two different businesses and organizations are participating in the first time event that promotes living “Mower” healthy. Over sixty two!

A central activity is the Harvest Passport that will guide folks to booths and businesses for healthy activities like canoeing, canning foods, artwork, yoga, interactive games, and more. The more passport stops a person makes, the more chances to win over $1,000 in prizes and a chance to win the grand prize of $500 to be used at the Austin YMCA or Rydjor Bike (winners choice)! Simply posting pictures of yourself at the event on social media with #MowerHealthy will increase your changes of amazing prizes!

The day’s event kicks off with Mower Refreshed’s Third Annual Harvest 5K Walk/Run. The Harvest 5K works to raise awareness of the need for healthy food donations to our county food shelves and funds to purchase healthy options, making the healthy choices easier and more accessible for folks regardless financial resources. Registration is still available the day of the event.
