Delores R. (Mrs. Bernard) Sam, 81, of Faribault, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.

Delores Ramona, the daughter of Evald and Florence (Person) Sandstrom, was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Battle Lake. She graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1951 and Gustavus Adolphus in 1955. Delores married Bernard Sam on Aug. 17, 1957, in Battle Lake. She taught school in Austin for four years and she also taught kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary in Faribault for 28 years.

She is survived by two children, Kathy “Sam” (and Monte) King of Rochester; and Jim (and Joanne) Sam of Faribault; one granddaughter, Shelby Peyton of Rochester; a brother, Dennis (and Sharon) Sandstrom of Red Wing; a sister-in-law, Joyce Sandstrom of Rosemount; nieces, nephews; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard on May 24, 2011; and a brother, David Sandstrom.

Funeral services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ashley Osborn officiating.
