Those flashing lights outside your window at night? The unexplained crop circles in your back field? That night you can’t remember? Monday night, paranormal researcher Chad Lewis will discuss strange occurrences in Austin and Minnesota during “UFOs of Minnesota: The Real X-Files” at the Austin Public Library at 7 p.m. on Monday.

The 45-minute presentation is appropriate for all ages and recommended for ages 7 and up, and Lewis will discuss the history of supernatural phenomena in the state spanning from the 1800s to today. Attendees will not only hear about UFO stories from Minnesota’s history, but will also be presented with visual examples of what witnesses have seen and experienced.

“It’s going to be a visual road trip,” Lewis said. “It will be a lot of fun whether you’re a true believer or a skeptic. It will be an entertaining evening, that’s for sure.”

Lewis said the presentation will be about UFOs, strange occurrences and stories about abductions or alien sightings. Lewis has collected the stories over the last 20 years.

“These will cover the weirdest cases throughout the entire state, and plenty right in the backyard of Austin as well,” he said.

Though people enjoy hearing about Roswell and other big stories about UFOs or unexplained occurrences, Lewis explained it takes on a new feeling when it happens in their own backyard. He noted the stories he will share aren’t simply someone seeing a red or blue light in the sky, but are more eerie than that, including crop circles, items left behind, a man whose car went completely dead and more.

Yet Lewis doesn’t want people to take his word for it.

“My goal is to get people thinking and talking about these ideas,” he said.

“I hope they don’t take my word for it either way, but that they go out and explore Minnesota,” he added. “Go out there and have an adventure.”

He also hopes to collect more stories from people Monday night about experiences they’ve had with the strange and unusual things.

Though Lewis is an author and has written about many subjects, he has not yet published a book about UFOs or alien sightings, but he hopes to add that to his docket down the road. After about 22 years of being interested in the strange and unusual things in life, he has plenty of stories to fill a book with. Lewis is originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and has written on a number of subjects, including ghosts and gangsters.

Lewis has been to Austin in the past to talk about gangsters, as well as the paranormal side of life.

“I love that I can go to Austin and talk about UFOs or gangsters or haunted places or creatures, and someone in the audience might have a story about something I’ve never heard of before that will take me off on a different track,” he said.

“They’re all strange and unique and bizarre history, and that’s what I love,” he added.
