Glenn M. Brandt, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at his home at The Cedars of Austin.

Glenn was born April 27, 1923, in Austin, Minnesota, to Michael and Edna (Priem) Brandt. He graduated from Austin High School in 1941. Glenn married Loriene Hanson in Austin on Nov. 8, 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the Geo. A. Hormel Company until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Austin Post No. 91 American Legion, Olaf B. Damm Post No. 1216 VFW. He served as secretary for the Cedar Valley Conservation Club where he was a member for over 50 years. Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing and spending time with his family. In 1950, he started deer hunting in Yucatan, Minnesota, and continued hunting until he was 90 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Steven Brandt; and sister Virginia Myhre.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Loriene Brandt, Austin, Minnesota; children: Patricia (Fred) Ekrem, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Glenda Brandt, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Brian Brandt, Austin, Minnesota, Lynette (Mike) Bartesch, Austin, Minnesota; six grandchildren: David (Maggie) Ekrem, Daniel (Lisa) Ekrem, Joanna Ekrem, Janelle (David) Lewison, Andrea (Chris) Brown, Katy (Brandon) Parr; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert Myhre, Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister-in-law: Peg Johnson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Organist will be Becky Bissen and soloist will be Sarah Lysne. Interment will be at Cedar City Cemetery with Austin Post No. 91 American Legion in charge of military rites. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
