MINNEAPOLIS — The number of homicides in Minneapolis is on the rise for the first time in three years.

The latest deadly shooting happened early Monday in north Minneapolis. Police says there was an argument between people in two vehicles at an intersection when some of them got out and exchanged gunfire, leaving one man dead.

On Saturday night, two men were fatally shot in south Minneapolis. One man died after he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police say the second victim died Sunday afternoon at HCMC.

Twenty-nine people are victims of homicides this year, compared to 19 at this point last year in Minneapolis. WCCO-TV reports that police say there’s no obvious reason for the spike in crime, but the motives range from drug violence to disputes.
