Riverland Community College women’s basketball team tops Anoka-Ramsey

The Riverland Community College women’s basketball team knocked off Anoka-Ramsey (11-9 overall, 4-3 MCAC South) 69-64 in Riverland Gym Wednesday night.
Charity Ridlon had a big second half for the Blue Devils (5-15 overall, 2-5 MCAC South) as she finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
RCC led 12-4 to start the game, but it hit a cold streak and trailed 29-22 at the half. The Blue Devils out-rebounded Anoka-Ramsey 46-34.
“It was a huge win for us. We’ve been right there in every single game,” RCC head coach Suzy Hebrink said. “We just haven’t been able to finish. It was great for our players to work hard and finish a game.”
Miriah Carruth had 15 points for RCC, Shona King had 13 points and Tracy Reddy had four points and 10 rebounds.
Carruth was named MCAC Southern Division player of the week for last week.
Carruth poured in 69 points in two games (34.5 points per game), including 48 against Western Tech, making 26-of-49 (53 percent) from the field and 6-of-9 on 3-pointers. Carruth also had 10 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game and 3.5 steals per game. She is a sophomore from St. Paul, Minn.
