There’s still time for qualifying Minnesotans to sign up for insurance through MNsure.
MNsure officials will be at the Welcome Center, 316 N. Main St. in Austin, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 16, and then at the LeRoy Public Library, 605 N. Broadway, from 2:30 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 26 to help individuals and families who qualify sign up for health insurance, even though open enrollment for health insurance closed earlier this year.
Households with qualifying incomes (for example, up to $47,100 for a family of four or $22,980 for a single person) may still be able to enroll in Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare. In addition, those households who have had a qualifying life event, such as a job change that affected their insurance coverage, change in marital status, or added a family member, may apply for health insurance through MNsure.
Applicants need to provide verification that they are Minnesota residents (driver’s license, state ID card or utility bill), information regarding any current employer-sponsored health coverage or other health insurance offered to them, dates of birth and Social Security numbers for all applicants. Non-citizens who are lawfully present may apply and will need to provide their legal residency documents.
The next open enrollment period for Qualified Health Plans begins Nov. 15, 2014. Persons who have previously applied and have questions about the status of their applications or who need to report qualifying life events must call MNsure at 1-855-366-7873.
