Guy

Kenneth Arthur Guy was born on Aug. 30, 1921, in Austin, the son of Robert Laird and Katie (Rogers) Guy. He attended Shattuck School and Pillsbury Academy prior to enlisting in the Army. After serving more than three years in the Army in World War II, his connection to the land and his family’s farm drew him back to Austin. He married Shirley Jean Sayles Dec. 1, 1945, in Austin and they lived and worked on the family farm for years. They raised four children Debbie, Brad, Chris and Cassie. He farmed, milked cows and had pigs until 1969, when he started delivering mail at the US Post Office in Austin. Kenny retired from the Post Office in 1987, to pursue his passion for gardening. Kenny and Shirley moved into Austin from the family farm in 1999, to the home Shirley resides in now. The last two years of Kenny’s life he resided at the Sacred Heart Care Center.

Kenny liked people and enjoyed working with them. In any situation he was always genuine, making witty remarks whether you appreciated them or not. We will miss his quick wit and generosity but we know that he is finally walking around enjoying himself at the Big Party.
