Joystick: Cars, superheroes and assassin’s highlight fall

Published 10:22 am Thursday, September 5, 2013

It’s almost fall, which means the fall season for games is coming out soon. There’s plenty of titles to look forward to over the next few months, but there’s certainly a lot of great games coming out. Here are the top games I’m looking forward to this fall season.

‘Grand Theft Auto V’

Sept. 17

The latest in a long line of great games, the next “Grand Theft Auto” looks like it will be another award-winning entry in the series. The action this time revolves around three protagonists, all of whom have their reasons for going up against crime lords and shady, corrupt gangs. This one definitely isn’t for children, however, and parents should make sure their child is age-appropriate for this M-rated game.

‘Just Dance 2014’

Oct. 8

This party game will keep things exciting in any gamer’s household. The “Just Dance” series has long been a family-friendly series, and the latest iteration proves no exception. With some of the most recent hot dance tunes and a lot of older classics, this may be the holiday party game this year.

‘Pokemon X and Y’

Oct. 10.

Speaking of family friendly, the latest Pokemon game is set to hit shelves this October. This version has a few extra tricks up its sleeve, and not just the dozens of new Pokemon.

There are a few new ways to battle and even a new type of evolution for trainers to contend with, which means plenty of content for new gamers or experienced hands.

‘LEGO Marvel Super Heroes’

Oct. 22

Yet another LEGO game, and yet another chance for some marvelous family bonding time. The LEGO games always emphasize simple fun through platforming action and some cartoonish violence, in this case through the Marvel superhero universe.

‘Batman Arkham Origins’

Oct. 25

Comics fans will be excited for this game, no doubt.

The third in a series of incredible games, “Batman: Arkham Origins” looks to improve upon the first two blockbusters by delving into Batman’s history to reveal how the Dark Knight took the cowl to defend Gotham City from evil.

Look for a few fan-favorite villains and a whole lot of Bat-action.

There probably aren’t any sharks to jump, however.

‘Assassin’s Creed 4’

Oct. 29

An assassination adventure on the high seas, the latest “Assassin’s Creed” promises to continue the storyline abruptly ended in the previous title.

Developer Ubisoft is facing plenty of expectations with this title, however, this is the first time an “Assassin’s Creed” game deals with pirates and high seas adventure.

‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’

Nov. 5

You’ve probably heard all about the latest “Call of Duty,” so I’ll spare you most of the details. The world’s favorite multiplayer shooter is getting dogs, playable female characters, and a whole lot of military beatdown in one game.
