Information meetings planned for Medicare

People turning 65 or going on Medicare will have a few opportunities to get the information they need to understand the program.
The Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging is bring the ABCDs of Medicare class to the Mower County Senior Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 25. The class will cover hospital, medical and drug options; Medicare supplements; Medicare advantage plans; Part D prescription drug coverage; preventive benefits; Medicare savings programs; ways to prevent fraud, waste and abuse; and it will offer resources to help people make decisions.
The instructor is a certified State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselor with the Senior LinkAge Line.
For those who want to know What’s New in Medicare for 2014, open enrollment is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, and a two-hour class is scheduled in Rochester at Northrop on Sept. 30, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Contact Community Education to register 507-328-4000.
