Funeral services for LaVonne Mae Espeland, 70, of Waseca will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Winnebago. The Rev. William Sabol will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. LaVonne died on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the New Richland Care Center.
LaVonne Mae Espeland was born on Aug. 6, 1942, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Harley V. and Doris L. (Sandess) Norby. She grew up in Freeborn and graduated from high school there. On Aug. 19, 1973, LaVonne was united in marriage to Marlyn Espeland. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafting and doing puzzles. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her children, Kimberly Clark of Brainerd, Karen (Lewis) Villarreal of Boling, Texas, William K. Clark of Waite Park and Tony (Kerri) Espeland of Aitkin; grandchildren, Samuel Clark, Taci Villarreal, Rebecca Clark, Vincent Clark, Tony Villarreal, Michael Espeland, Mickija Haugen, Hunter Haugen, Naomi Steffes and William “BJ” King; sisters, Jeanette Fell of Waseca and Sandra Norby of Hartland; and her niece, Annette O’Brien.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Marlyn Espeland; parents, Harley and Doris Norby; former husband, William “Bill” Clark; daughter-in-law Gwen Clark; and brothers-in-law, Dale Schlicht and Charlie Fell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Hope House in Rochester in memory of LaVonne.
