Mary Catherine (Swatosh) Buxton, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at her home in Austin, Minn.

Mary Catherine was born in Mower County on March 16, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Echo Swatosh. Catherine was married to David Buxton on May 2, 1948. She devoted her time to her children and husband. Catherine volunteered with the DFL party, helped many members of the community through her volunteer work with the Salvation Army, including various church activities. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Echo (Messenger) Swatosh; sons, Byron “Bucky,” Mitchell and David; brother, Frank Swatosh Jr.; and sister, Elyce Swatosh Baier.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband, David, of 65 years; children Pam Buxton, Austin, Debbie (Perry) Sorg, Owatonna, Minn., Jody Buxton, Big Spring, Texas, Kathyleen (Martin) Frey, Olympia, Wa., and Tom Buxton, San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Delbert (Arlene) Swatosh, Tom (Judy) Swatosh, Tim Swatosh, James (Diane) Swatosh, John (Priscilla) Swatosh; sisters and brothers-in-law Jean (Dick) Tourville, Linda Messenger (Bob Distad); many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with Pastor David DeFor and Pastor John Swatosh officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.
