Mildred Irene Peterson, 93, of rural Austin, Minn., died Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
She was born Nov. 13, 1919, near Dawson, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Ella (Haase) Ebert. She attended country school near her home and moved to Austin at the age of 14. On Nov. 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Nordean Peterson in Northwood, Iowa. They made their home on a farm in Moscow Township, Freeborn County, Minn. Mildred was close to her family and helped with childcare and caring for aging family members whenever she was needed. Mildred loved to garden, especially raising flowers. She was a past member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mildred enjoyed going to garage sales, volunteering, traveling and traveled to Europe with her brother, Paul Ebert.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ella Ebert; husband Nordean Peterson on April 12, 1961; four brothers, Leslie, Lloyd, John and Paul Ebert; and two sisters, Marie and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Susan Li officiating. Interment will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
