RCC’s Aase named second team All-American

Rebekah Aase, an Austin grad and Riverland Community College sophomore, was recently named a second team Division III NJCAA All-American for women’s basketball.
Aase, a 6-1 center, averaged 18.1 points and 12.2 points per game this past season for the Blue Devils, who finished the season 15-12 overall.
Aase broke RCC school records in three rebounding categories. She set a new mark for boards in a season with 316, she set a record for rebounds in a career with 567 and she set a new standard for rebounds in a game with 25.
Aase had 18 double-doubles in the past season and she scored a career-high 31 points in one contest.
She led the MCAC in scoring and rebounding, she was second in free throw and field goal percentage and blocked shots and she was fourth in steals.
Aase is the fourth player in Riverland’s history to earn All-American honors for women’s basketball. She is the third player in the last four years to earn the honor under head coach Suzy Hebrink.
RCC’s former All-Americans are Anna Hebrink, who played at RCC from 2008 to 2009, Krista Viehauser, who played at RCC from 2010 to 2011 and Nancy Haddorff, who played at RCC from 1977 to 1978.
