S&L Motorsports to open in Adams

Those looking for a little car care — or ATV, snowmobile or tractor service, for that matter — will find it in Adams this March.
Frank Laursen and Tim Shane will open S&L Motorsports at 202 Commerce Street in Adams on March 18, right near the lumberyard. The current auto technicians who work in Rochester are branching out to rural Minnesota and starting their own business.
“In this economy, it’s really volatile,” Laursen said. “We’re just tired of the grind, so we’re going to carry on on our own.”
Is it a risk? Certainly. But it’s worth it, Laursen says.
Instead of working for “the man,” Laursen and Shane say they want to be the small-town good guys who pride themselves on honesty and customer service.
“We feel that customer service is lacking today in the automotive business,” Laursen said.
Laursen described the shop as “friendly, small shop where you can come have a cup of coffee, talk with the guys or bring your car, and we’ll take care of that, too.”
The building, formerly an auto service shop, among other businesses in the past, will look a little different after the men move their equipment and get new signage out front. After moving in the computer systems and tool boxes, the entrepreneurs will be ready to go to work.
For now, it will just be Laursen and Shane, but in the future, who knows?
Laursen said he and Shane are prepared to work on tractors and smaller machines, too.
“Absolutely everything,” Laursen said.
