Still time to work out on Christmas at YMCA

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. The Y is closed today so that our staff can spend time with family and friends. But there is no reason you can’t work out on Christmas Day.

After the presents have been opened and I have had a cup of tea, I head out for a run. For many years I went out on my own, but as the years have gone by, my daughter Courtney has joined me in this tradition, and the last two years my husband Matt has joined us.

What a great way to clear the mind and really enjoy the rest of the day. Whether you go for a long run or a short walk, exercise is a good way to offset Christmas dinner.

Getting out of the house and into the fresh air blows away cobwebs and brings a fresh perspective to events and emotions inside the house.

Whether a solitary jaunt gives you the alone time you need, or a walk offers the chance to reconnect with your partner, I can’t think of a way in which exercise is not beneficial.

As you head into the New Year, be nice to yourself and take care of your health.
