Ronald E. Dahlen, 70, of Eden Prairie, departed this earth on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, following a year-long journey with cancer. He was born in Albert Lea, to parents Adrian and Dorothy Dahlen on Feb. 10, 1942.
Ron had an exceptional history of unique accomplishments. With a natural gift of speed, Ron was a standout performer in football and frequent record setter in track while attending both Albert Lea High School and St. Olaf College. Through ROTC, Ron acquired a private pilot’s license while still in college and went on to fly in the United States Air Force. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, flying B-52s and, in addition to five Air Medals, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After years in the service, Ron entered the automotive industry as a regional manager for NAPA and spent the last 20-plus years working for Bridgestone Firestone. Ron enjoyed a lifetime of excellent health, virtually never missing a day of work throughout his career. As a history, fishing and golf enthusiast, Ron had many interests. Above all else, love for his family was always Ron’s primary focus. Beloved husband to his high school sweetheart, Carol, loving father to Eric (and wife, Jeanne), Diana, Jason (and wife, Jennifer) and Curtis (and wife, Ashley) Dahlen, adoring grandpa to Jordan, Samantha and Sydney Dahlen. Ron is also survived by his brother, Tom Dahlen, and brothers-in-law, John and David Rasmussen, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
