CVB planning for Paint the Town Pink 2013

The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking for a little help painting Austin a rosy hue come February.

Planning for the 2013 Paint the Town Pink is under way, with the top events set in stone. The biggest change this year? Paint the Town Pink will span 10 days, with activities starting Friday, Feb. 1 and ending Monday, Feb. 10.

“That gives people more time to plan something,” said Cheryl Corey, executive director of Austin’s CVB. Corey said the Paint the Town Pink steering committee is busy putting together more events than 2012’s event, which could include a health fair and a community-wide pink painting contest.

The CVB will collect all proceeds before turning the donations over to The Hormel Institute for cancer research.

“It’s a great thing that so many people and businesses in the community are willing to partner with [The Institute], to create more money for research,” Corey said.

Residents can get involved or get their events on the CVB Paint the Town Pink calendar by contacting the CVB at visitor@austincvb.com or calling 507-437-4563.
