The Austin Fire Department, along with Austin police and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the fire. The site was cleared by around 6:45 p.m.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point, though grass fires are common this time of the year because of dried out grass and a lack of rain.
