A new exhibit opens Wednesday at the Austin Area Art Center, entitled quite appropriately, “New Paintings.”
Eva Deli’s exhibit runs Feb. 3 through Feb. 28 at the gallery in Oak Park Mall.
Deli was born in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary, and studied for a master’s in environmental engineering at the Pannon University in Keszthely, Hungary, where she went on to pursue a Ph.D.
She came to Austin almost 20 years ago when her husband became employed at the Hormel Institute.
Deli’s paintings illustrate abstract beauty, patterns and order. She employs figurative elements and deliberately distorts her forms, looking for the “inner order of things,” according to and Austin Area Art Center press release.
Much of her inspirations come from sketches done during symphony practices and ballet and yoga classes.
All art center events are free and open to the public.
A reception in Deli’s honor will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, February 7. All purchases will be tax-free that day and refreshments will be served.
For more information, call the art center at 433-8451 or email aaacoil@smig.net.
Business hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; noon to 6 p.m. Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
