LaVina M. Bute, 88
LaVina Mae Bute, 88, of Austin, died on Aug. 4, 2008 at Adams Healthcare Center in Adams.
She was born May 13, 1920 to John and Esther (Boreen) Felt in Madison, S.D. When LaVina was a child, the family moved to Minnesota where LaVina attended school in Jackson. She married Harold Bute on Sept. 14, 1936 in Sioux Falls, S.D. After making their home in Jackson for many years, LaVina and Harold moved to the twin cities. She was a cook in Coon Rapids at the school and the hospital. During the late 1980’s they moved to Austin where LaVina cooked in the coffee shop at St. Olaf Hospital. Harold passed away on June 10, 1995. In 2000 LaVina made her home at Pickett Place. She loved cooking, baking, traveling, bowling, family gatherings and spending time with friends and grandchildren.
Survivors include six children, John (Lorene) Bute, Lebanon, Ore., Clifford (Barbara) Bute, New Brighton, Linda (Gary) Forslund, Blaine; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and John Felt; husband, Harold; son, Larry; daughter, Tammy and one brother, Clifford Felt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Reverend Patricia Toschak officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to donors choice.
