Comedy show set for the funniest day of the year

Comedian Jeff Pfoser is the headliner for Jokes On Us: April Fool’s Comedy Showcase at the Historic Paramount Theatre  at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1. Celebrate the funniest day of the year with four comedians to keep you in stitches. Also featured in the show are Jeff Larson, Ellen Klein and Chris Anderson.

Pfoser is based out of the Twin Cities metro and is a regular performer in Minneapolis’ 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival. Pfoser recently opened for comedy legend Gilbert Gottfried and was also a finalist in the 2016 Joke Joint Comedy Club’s Minnesota’s Funniest Person Contest.

Pfoser owns two minivans, enjoys top-shelf root beer and prefers eating breakfast food for dinner. A charismatic family man whose stories take surprise twists and turns, Pfoser walks the likeable-vs.-offensive tightrope with true panache, and his material will make you laugh or cringe (sometimes both).

Jeff Larson of Rochester, Minnesota, had his first unofficial gig nine years ago when he was asked by a coworker to host a surprise retirement roast for his departing boss which was surprisingly successful. On a dare from a friend, he then did his first open mike and has been hooked on comedy ever since. Larson has great stage presence, and successfully connects with adults of all ages, likely because so much of his material derives from universal experience. In his act, he discusses first (and second) girlfriends, and how he lost them, married life, karaoke, nuclear war, and why Miley Cyrus is his favorite comedian.

Rochester-based Ellen Klein is a deep thinker with a “Saturday Night Live” sense of humor. Klein maintains her child-like personality by filling her life with singing, animals, children, and swinging on the swings.

Austin resident and Iowa native Chris Anderson has been a comedian since he first got glasses, according to a girl in his third grade class.

Blessed with one of the least-memorable names in comedy, he performed improv at two Iowa colleges and at the iO Theater in Chicago, and has since added stand-up comedy in his quest to make people laugh. His self-deprecating comedy celebrates the life of a bike-riding married man with no kids and no pets.

Jokes On Us: April Fool’s Comedy Showcase is a show for adults, with R-rated material appropriate for ages 18-plus. A cash bar will be available at the Paramount.
