The Riverside Figure Skating Club will present “Blades on Broadway” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 at Riverside Arena.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, adults are $10, seniors and students are $8 and children 5 and under are free.

Hockey

We are currently taking registration for the Spring three-on-three youth hockey. Games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning March 18 through May 6 at Riverside Arena. The cost is $45 per player. There will be four divisions: Mites, squirt and 10U, peewee and 12U and bantam. The leagues will be mixed girls and boys.

Volleyball

Youth volleyball registration deadline is March 31 for those students grades third to sixth. Students will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning April 3 to May 11 at Ellis Middle School, the cost is $45 per player.

Pickleball

Pickleball open gym has started at Ellis Middle School at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights through March 8. The cost is $2 per person per time — pay at the gym. For more information, you may contact Jake at Park & Rec 507-433-1881 or jakes@ci.austin.mn.us.

Wrestling

The Shamrock Open youth wrestling tournament will be held on Friday, March 17, at Austin High School. The Shamrock continues to be an NYWA District Qualifier for those in grade kindergarten through eighth-grade. Weigh-ins are from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted until 5:30 p.m. Wrestling begins at about 6 p.m. Adult admission is $4 and students are $2.

Rental units

Graduation venues can be hard to come by.

The Izaak Walton Cabin is open year-round. We have updated the serving and clean-up area this year as well. The cabin is also available Monday to Thursday for meetings at $20 per hour and a $150 deposit. The weekend rate is $170 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a $300 deposit. This is a great venue for graduation parties, birthday parties and family gatherings.

Many of our park pavilions are available for rent to ensure that you have a spot for your family gathering or graduation party. The smaller gazebo or pavilions rent for $40 and are located at the following parks: East Side Lake Gazebo, Horace Austin Gazebo, Lafayette Park Pavilion, Lion’s Park East and West Pavilion and Todd Park No. 3 South Pavilion.

The two larger pavilions’ in Todd Park No. 1 NW Large Pavilion and No. 2 NE Large Pavilion rent for $70. The Veterans Pavilion is located in Bandshell Community Park and rents for $125 and requires a $100 deposit. All gazebo’s or pavilions fall under park rules which means that your event needs to be done at 10:30 p.m.

Packer Arena schedule

Public skate: 2:45 to 4 p.m. Feb. 26.

The cost is $4 to skate plus $1 if you need to rent skates. Make sure to like us on Facebook so you receive up to date information.

Stick time: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Packer Arena will close for the season Feb. 27 following the curling event. All events will continue at Riverside Arena.

Riverside Arena schedule

Riverside Figure Skate Club to host their annual skate show on March 4 and 5.

Adult Open Hockey: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. Cost is $6 per person each event. Attendees must be 16; goalies are free.

Stick time: Time change for Monday: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. March 1.

Austin Bruin’s next home game: Bruins will host Bismarck on March 10-11. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
