Minn. Republicans unveil restrictive transgender bill

Minnesota House Republicans unveiled a bill Wednesday that would require transgender people to use bathrooms and locker rooms corresponding to their gender at birth.

The proposal would apply to both public spaces, including schools and private employers.

A local representative said she supports the bill that would eliminate multi-stall unisex bathrooms.

District 27A Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, said she wants the bill to come before committee so the issue can be exposed to different points of view and enhance good discussion.
