Austin’s Kelly Nesvold is going to celebrate his 39th birthday by raising some funds for a good cause.

Nesvold recently put out a challenge to see if he could raise $3,900 for his 300M4FREEDOM event, and he reached that goal when the Shakopee Jaycees stepped up and became a gold level sponsor for the event by donating $10,000 to Nesvold’s cause.

Nesvold will run the 39 miles on his birthday, Feb. 11, and he will run a 5-mile loop around town throughout the day.

“I haven’t ran that length in quite a while and I’ve never ran that many miles in the cold, so that’ll be a huge challenge,” Nesvold said. “I’ll try to have it planned out and on Facebook, so if anyone wants to join me for however long they want to, they can.”

Nesvold’s 300M4FREEDOM will feature him completing a 300-mile triathlon to raise funds to fight human trafficking.

Nesvold also has a fundraiser coming up for a Feb. 26 Bruins game, where fans can buy their tickets at Wellness First Chiropractic.

The first 75 people to purchase a ticket for $20 will get a free T-shirt, a $5 Papa Murphy’s coupon card and free box of Girl Scout Cookies.

In 2014, Nesvold ran 100 miles from St. Paul to Austin to raise $25,000 to buy 100,000 meals to fight hunger through 100M4HUNGER.
