The Riverland Community College men’s soccer team opened its season with a strong first half, but things went down hill in the second half as it lost 7-1 to NIACC in Larry Gilbertson track and field Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (0-1 overall) opened the scoring when Gabriel Souza Tralli found the back of the net in the 19th minute of the game. NIACC scored a pair of goals later in the first half and they led 2-1 at the half.

NIACC scored four goals in a 10-minute spurt near the end of the game to put it out of reach.

Abraham Manzano-Serrato, an Austin grad, stopped 19 of the first 22 shots he saw in net, before NIACC was able to rally for some clean looks.
