On Wednesday, there will be presentation by the Mower County Historical Society at the Mower County Senior Center will be on the Judenrate controversies of the World War II.

The Judenrate were councils of Jewish elders in Poland who were organized by the Nazis and tasked with running, policing and overseeing the ghettos into which the Jewish people were forced to live after the Nazi occupation of Poland.

The Judenrate were forced to provide the names of people who were deported east to the concentration camps.

The historical question is, were they collaborators who aided the Nazis in the destruction of their own people, or were they decent men forced to do terrible things? It’s a very interesting and very sad story, and one which most people don’t know much about. Join us at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. We hope to see you there.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having chicken tetrazzini casserole for only $2.
