Carol Kay Decker, 72, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Comforcare in Austin.

Carol was born in Sargeant, Minnesota, on March 8, 1943, to Henry and Gitta (Gilbertson) Shawback Sr. She attended surrounding area schools. Carol married Donald Decker on July 28, 1961. To this union, four children were born: Edward, Danniel, Christine and Mark. Carol was a homemaker and helped Don on their farm in the London/Lyle area. They moved to Austin in 1974. Carol helped her family by providing childcare for her grandchildren from 1993-1997. Donald died on March 7, 2006. Carol then moved to Pickett Place and spent the later years of her life there.

Carol enjoyed reading books and watching her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Carol was a generous person and donated to many local charities.

Carol is survived by her children: Edward (Suzanne) Decker of Grand Meadow, Danniel Decker of Waterloo, Iowa, Christine Rice of Austin, Mark (Betty) Decker of Farmington, New Mexico; grandchildren: Christopher Decker, Jonathan Rice, Ryan Decker, Alan Rice, Jason Rice, Olivia Decker, Emily Decker; siblings: Arthur (Lavonne) Shawback Sr. of Austin, Henry (Arlis) Shawback Jr. of Blooming Prairie, Leslie (Cathy) Shawback Sr. of Blooming Prairie, Raymond Shawback of Manville, Texas; sister-in-law, Gladys Shawback of Austin; along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; siblings: Marion Petersen, John Shawback, LeAllen Shawback, Joseph Shawback and Mervin Shawback.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Mayer Funeral Home with a Rosary starting at 6 p.m. There will also be visitation an hour prior to the funeral at the church.
