The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Mower County until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The NWS estimates some areas affected by flooding could include Austin, Lyle, Rose Creek, Adams, Grand Meadow, Brownsdale and LeRoy.

NWS meteorologists said slow moving thunderstorms brought heavy rain into the area, which has resulted in 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour in some areas affected by the storm. Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible overnight.

Use caution when traveling, as excessive runoff from the rain will cause flooding in small creeks, streams, and potentially over highways or underpasses. NWS meteorologists say travelers shouldn’t try to drive through flooded stretches of road, but should turn around instead.
