KANSAS CITY — The Riverland Community College baseball team lost two late leads and had a five-inning victory against Division II Rocker University JV in Kansas City over the weekend.

The Blue Devils (12-5 overall) won 11-0 and lost 6-5 and 8-7.

RCC led the first game 7-4 going into the seventh when its pitchers hit four batters in the frame and allowed four runs to lose. RCC led the second game 5-0 going into the sixth before blowing that lead as well.

“We learned that not even a five run lead is safe when you’re playing good teams,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “It’s frustrating when the Region voting is strictly bases on your record and we’re playing some good teams. Our schedule’s as tough as I’ve had as a coach.”

Hayfield grad Tyler Krekling was 4-for-10 with 2 RBIs and Southland grad Chris May was 5-for-9 with a double and 4 RBIs.
