Beverly Jean (Mrs. Carl) Bartness, 84, of Faribault, died on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.

Private services for the family were held at the Boldt Funeral Home on Monday.

Beverly Jean, the daughter of Harry and Ruth (Stevens) Matthies, was born on April 7, 1929, in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and married Carl A. Bartness on Nov. 21, 1948, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2006. Together with her husband, she owned and operated Modern Printers in Faribault for 37 years.

She is survived by three children, Timothy Bartness of Atlanta, Ga., Rebecca (and Terry) Tofte of Burnsville and Ruth (and Jim) Pitt of Lakeville; eight grandchildren, Lacey Morgan, Zachary Bartness, Michael Bazan, Kathryn Holton, Larissa Bazan, Jennifer Verano and Jason and Tyler Pitt; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Matthies of New Port Richey, Fla.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; one son, Lonnie; and one brother, Leslie Matthies.
