Lyle school board to vote on contract for superintendent
The Lyle Public School board will vote to approve extending superintendent-principal Joe Guanella’s contract for the upcoming school year.
Guanella took over as superintendent-principal in March and originally intended to work in Lyle for four months as the interim district head until the board could hire a new superintendent and principal. The board signaled last month that it was interested in extending Guanella’s contract for another year.
After that, the district could align under the new superintendent of Grand Meadow and Glenville/Emmons Public Schools if current superintendent Jerry Reshetar decides to retire. Lyle originally shared Reshetar with the other two districts as part of a consortium agreement. Reshetar resigned from Lyle last year and intended to retire at the end of this school year, but decided to stay on. Under the terms of the new contract, Guanella will be paid $110,000 next year.
