Youngsters will be back to the track

The second Austin Noon Kiwanis sponsored track meet will take place on Thursday with field events beginning at 6:15 p.m. and running events at 6:30 p.m. The meet is free and open to those participants 3 and up.

The location this year is at the North Todd Park Softball Complex, across from The Windrift. This track meet will look different than in past years as there is not a track, but everyone had fun at the June meet so don’t hesitate and join in.

 Kickball tournament

Put your kickball team together for a tournament sponsored by the Bakery Lounge and held starting at 1 p.m. at the Todd Park South Complex on Saturday, July 25. We have registration forms in our office or stop in to the Bakery and sign up. Spectators are welcome.

 Dance camp

If you didn’t make it to the office to sign up for our dance camp, the K-2 participants will start at 10 a.m. and the third- to sixth-grade participants at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13. Camp runs two weeks ending on July 24, Monday through Friday at I.J. Holton School. The cost is $30 per student and you must register at the Park and Recreation office prior to attending.

If you are interested call us Monday morning to make arrangements to register.

 Austin swimming pool

The next session of water aerobics starts on July 16 and runs through Aug. 6 on from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The cost is $35 per session. Stop in our office and sign up at 121 Fourth Ave. NE.

The hours for public swim at the pool are 1 to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday; 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings; 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Individual season memberships are available for purchase at the pool or at the Park and Recreation office for $30. Daily admission is $3 per person and evening admission is $2 per person. Ages 2 and under are free

 Spruce Up Austin

Spruce Up Austin will hold their Yard and Garden Tour on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18. This is a great way to see how others put their gardens and yards together. Advance tickets are on sale at Berg’s Nursery, Dolan’s Landscape, Hardy Geranium, HyVee and SuperFresh Garden Center, the cost is $10 or the day of the event for $12.  Nature center

Upcoming events to watch for at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center: Jaime Edwards on Thursday for an educational program, “Snakes of Minnesota.” Jaime is a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Nongame Wildlife Specialist. She will also bring several live snakes for you to see the different species. There will be a program at 9:30 a.m. for senior’s and a family program at 1 p.m. in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium. This program is free.

Thursday, July 23, Alex Watson will present at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on how bison will roam in the Minnesota River Valley at Minneopa State Park.
