Snow, rain still expected into Wednesday

The wintry weather is still on its way, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday. NWS officials still predict snow early afternoon on Tuesday, which will turn into rain and possibly freezing rain. As air cools overnight and into Wednesday, precipitation may turn back into snow. Zack Taylor, NWS meteorologist, suspects Austin could see roughly two inches of snow. The heaviest snowfall will likely occur north of Austin, from the Twin Cities region to Eau Claire, Wis. Taylor predicts much of the snow will melt this week; however, there is another chance of rain and snow on Friday.

The winter weather advisory means periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain may cause travel difficulties. NWS urges travelers to prepare for slippery roads and limited visibility. Latest road conditions can by found by calling 5-1-1.
