The intersection of 19th Street SE and Oakland Ave will be closed for about six weeks as the city does road work.

City Engineer Jon Erichson said the intersection is part of an ongoing project that spans from Oakland to Fourth avenues on 19th Street.

“We’ve been working on it for the last three weeks,” he said of the project.

The intersection is next to Neveln Elementary School, which made the city decide to leave it untouched during the school year, Erichson said. Now that the school year is over, construction will continue.

Drivers can expect the intersection to re-open in mid to late July.
