National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

The Red Cedar Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, met at the home of Cheryl Potter on Aug. 2, 2014. The DAR ritual was repeated and the members present completed the program calendar for 2014-2015.

Red Cedar will have a display at the Austin Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in honor of Constitution Week. Included in this display will be a copy of the Constitution, a tactile USA flag with “The Pledge of Allegiance” in braille, an American flag which was flown over our nation’s capitol on July 3, 2013, a bi-centennial rug with the dates of 1776-1976. Small American flags will be handed out, as well as many other historical brochures and literature. Polly Jelinek is the chairperson of this special observance. Mayor Tom Stiehm will be signing the proclamation designating Sept. 17 to 23, as Constitution Week, at the Library at 11 a.m.

The next meeting will be held at the Hormel Historic Home on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

For 123 years the NSDAR has honored God, Home and Country in service to our nation. Since 1890, more than 920,000 women have joined the National Society.
