Pacelli announces Homecoming Court

Pacelli Catholic Schools announced this year’s Homecoming Court ahead of its week of activities leading up to the big football game against Mabel-Canton next week.

This year’s Homecoming Court consists of the following Pacelli students:

While students, staff and alumni prep for the week of displaying their school spirit, here are some of the upcoming events that will have Lyle-Pacelli Athletics fans ready to stand up and cheer for their home team.


Sunday, Sept. 22

The Lyle coronation and dinner takes place in Lyle at 5:30 p.m. Pre-purchase tickets from the main office; all are invited to attend.

Monday, Sept. 23

This week kicks off themed spirit days for Pacelli and Lyle students. Monday is Pajama Day for Pre-kindergarten-12th grade, with the junior high and junior varsity football game taking place in Lyle.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

It’s college sports and jersey day, and students can attend the volleyball home game for Lyle-Pacelli v. Glenville-Emmons. Students who attend the game are encouraged to dress as a superhero or Disney character.

There’s also a soccer game in Owatonna, and free Spam sliders are available after school by the Austin High School flag pole for students in grades 9-12.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

Mismatch, crazy hair and outfit day is one that’s sure to have students and staff doubled over in laughter. The Pacelli Pep Fest takes place at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium for grades 7-12. The coronation of Homecoming King and Queen will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium and all are invited to this free event.

Thursday, Sept. 26

Time to show off your colors. It’s Class Color Day at Pacelli. Seniors and fifth graders are assigned to wear black, juniors must wear white, sophomores and fourth graders wear red, freshmen and third graders can wear blue, eighth and second grade wear grey, seventh and first grade students are given green and sixth graders and kindergarteners are assigned purple.

The Preschoolers and Shamrock Zone can wear rainbow.

It’s also the night of the volleyball/football players facing staff and parents in a volleyball game at Pacelli starting at 7 p.m. A non-perishable food item grants you admission. There’s a cross country meet at Zumbrota-Mazeppa and a soccer game at Austin Wescott Field.

Friday, Sept. 27

It’s Lyle-Pacelli Spirit Day, so everyone is encouraged to support their Athletics. For the big homecoming game against Mable-Canton at 7 p.m.

Students in grades 7-12 will head to Lyle for a picnic and each grade is assigned something to bring for the event. Seniors must bring plates and napkins, juniors must bring chips, sophomores and freshmen are assigned to bring desserts or cookies, and eighth graders and seventh graders can bring pop or water.

Lyle will also be hosting its Pep Fest in Lyle, along with the cross country team running the game football down to Lyle. The team leaves at 4:30 p.m.

Homecoming Court is introduced at halftime of the football game.

Saturday, Sept. 28

Junior varsity volleyball will have its invitational at Grand Meadow starting at 8 a.m. and a cycling race at WhiteTail Ridge in Riverfalls, Wisconsin.

Students who are attending the Homecoming Dance can go to Lyle from 8 to 11 p.m.
