Predatory offender in Mower County jail also charged with fondling 4-year-old

A registered sex offender charged last week for having sex with an Austin teenager in March has also been charged for fondling a 4-year-old boy.

Brian Broulik, 39, of Blooming Prairie, was charged last Thursday in Dodge County Court with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. According to the court complaint, an FBI agent served Broulik with a federal search warrant on May 24 and found 40 pornographic pictures of children on Broulik’s phone, along with a video text message sent to another person, as well. The complaint states that investigators believe Broulik is the man in the video fondling the 4-year-old.

Broulik is already listed as a Level 3 sex offender, as he was convicted in 1997 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in Steele County and again of the same charge in Rice County in 1998. He also violated his terms of offender registration in Freeborn County in 2007 and has a restraining order violation of a victim younger than 18 pending in Olmsted County Court.

Broulik is held in the Mower County jail on $250,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Mower County Court on June 21.
