Cardinals shoot their way past Lyle-Pacelli girls

The LeRoy-Ostrander girls basketball team hit 10 three-pointers as it knocked off Lyle-Pacelli 63-58 in Lyle Friday.

Krista Bunne and Becca Bunne combined for 31 points to lead the attack for the Cardinals (3-1 overall, 2-0 SEC).

“It was crazy,” L-P head coach Brad Walter said. “Everything they put up went in. It seemed like we outplayed them in everything but the scoreboard.”

L-P (1-1 overall, 1-1 SEC) had the ball down three with 15 seconds left but it failed to connect on a two-point shot and Krista Bunne hit two free throws with one second left to ice the game for the Cards.

“We didn’t get a good look, but we had a chance to tie,” Walter said.

L-P’s Courtney Walter, an eighth grade guard, led the all scorers with 20 points.

L-P scoring: Courtney Walter, 20; Ann Rysavy, 14; Sarah Holtz, 12; Maggie Lewison, 8; Whitney Hinz, 4

L-O scoring: Krista Bunne, 16; Becca Bunne, 15; Jessica Jennings, 14; Chanda Riedemann, 10; Anna Miller, 5; Dana Miller, 3
