Baier is Noon Kiwanis Student of the Month

The Austin Noon Kiwanis Student of the Month is Kellie Baier, a senior at Austin High School.

Baier has been described as someone who has “learned that lending a helping hand to those in need can go a great distance, and that you also have the opportunity to build valuable relationships.”

“My educational experience has always been very valuable to me,” she said. “I have had many opportunities taking rigorous courses throughout high school. I have been taking advanced classes since my freshman year and am currently taking RCC classes. Getting involved in as many things as possible, like sports and activities, makes the experience most memorable.”

She is involved in the National Honor Society (NHS), Link Crew, orchestra, tennis, and dance team. Outside of school, she loves to volunteer.

“I help out at the Salvation Army, the YMCA, and volunteer in the community through NHS,” she said. Baier has also been active in Relay for Life as a volunteer and committee member, and has played a role in the Day of Caring project. Next fall, she plans to attend Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, and major in biology to hopefully become a forensic scientist.

“Someone who has had a notable positive impact on me is Mrs. Huff,” she said. “She was my teacher for three years in a row, ever since she started teaching at AHS. Although writing isn’t my best skill, she was always there to help me whenever I was struggling. She always told me to think positive and to never give up. Mrs. Huff has taught me important life lessons that will carry with me as I  continue my education.”
