Keepsake Quilters Guild

The March meeting hosted a guest speaker, Nancy Wick, from Minneapolis. She is the author of “The Quilt Book.” Her program was on ideas for organizing your sewing space.

Several times a year, the Keepsake Quilters Guild has guest speakers, who present interesting programs on new quilting ideas, quilting ideas, quilting equipment, etc. Other meetings, members will give a demonstration on interesting ideas or projects such as purses, tote bags or other craft ideas.

If you are interested in learning more about quilting, or have questions, you are invited to attend a meeting, or visit with a guild member. The Keepsake Quilters Guild meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at St. Johns Lutheran Church, north entrance.  Duplicate Bridge

Tournament results for March 4, four tables played: First place, Vandy Newman and Gene Muchow; second place (tie), Dave Ring and Orrion Roisen; third place (tie), Loren Cleland and Arnie Lang and Rick Stroup and Gene Domino.

Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Mower County Senior Center in Austin. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189.

 Golden Age Club

On March 4, the monthly meeting was conducted by Everett De Young.

A reading: “Winter Messages,” about symmetry, was read by Elaine Reynolds. Sylvia Ginder, secretary, read the monthly report.

Ruth Van Hooser, treasurer, reported $337.12 as the monthly balance. Minutes were accepted by Jacky Kottner, first and seconded by Roman Rikuts. There was no new or old business.

There were no birthdays or anniversaries this month. There were no cards Feb. 11 due to cold and ice.

Hazel Baldner sent a card to Shirley De Young. Cards were played at ten tables.

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join the club.
