Jora Bothun: Noon Kiwanis Student of the Month

The Noon Kiwanis student of the month is Jora Bothun, a senior at Austin High School.

Bothun

My name is Jora Bothun and I am a senior at Austin High School. My senior year has given me a different perspective on how I can view my adversities. Going into my senior year, I set a couple goals for myself. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet all my goals. Not achieving what I wanted gave me an opportunity to think about the positives in the outcome, and not as much about the negatives. I chose to have a positive attitude and be a leader. I attended three leadership trainings my 10th- and 11th-grade years that helped me with my mindset.

Some activities I’m involved in are church worship team, AHS concert choir, Choralaires, vocal jazz, soccer, and I’m the business manager of the Austinian.

Mrs. Keenan has a positive impact in my academic life. She always encourages me to step outside of my comfort zone. She is always a huge help and makes me feel like I can do anything if I work hard enough for it.

After I graduate, I plan to attend Riverland Community College to take my general classes. I am not certain of a career at the moment, so I plan to take my future one step at a time.
