Local students will participate in Piano Guild Auditions

Piano Guild Auditions are coming up, and local students get the chance to perform.

This year 48 area piano students will be participating in the Piano Guild Auditions. These are the piano students of Holly Dalager, Joyce Edland and Lynee Larson.

American College of Musicians holds yearly auditions in over 850 U.S. cities and several foreign countries. Students perform for a judge and receive repot cards, certificates and fraternity pins.

Joan Getz, the National Guild of Piano Teachers judge for this year’s audition, moved to West St. Paul, Minn., from Brookings, S.D. She received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the South Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D. She has also had extensive training in teaching Kindermusik pre-school music classes.

The auditions are being held at the Austin Public Library May 12-14.
