Jay C. Hormel Nature Center contractor, Stantec, will be burning prairies and oak woodlands on the nature center, primarily north of the tower, starting today and going through Friday.

The work is part of projects funded through Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Partners Legacy grants with a match coming from the Friends of the Hormel Nature Center.

The prescribed fires will revitalize native prairie and oak savanna ecosystem on the nature center with the greater goal of returning the rare ecosystems back to the landscape.

Adjacent property owners need not contact the fire department to report the fires.
